Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information

Effective Date: September 7, 2025

Contact: [email protected]

Applies to: quantcup.com, apps, emails/SMS, and related services (the “Service”).

At a glance: We collect only what we need to run QuantCup (account details, payments via a processor, usage analytics, and communications you opt into). We don't sell your personal data. You control marketing preferences. You can access or delete your data subject to legal exceptions.

1) Data We Collect

A. You provide:

  • Account info (name, email, password).
  • Purchase info (plan, billing ZIP, tax region). Payment card data is handled by our processor (e.g., Stripe) and never stored on our servers.
  • Optional contact channels (phone for SMS; social handles).
  • Support messages and community posts.

B. Collected automatically:

  • Device and usage data (IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, time on page, referral URLs).
  • Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies (see Cookies below).
  • Approximate location (derived from IP) to localize content and comply with regional rules.

C. From third parties:

  • Payment confirmations from processors.
  • Analytics/attribution signals (e.g., which campaign led you to us).
  • Platform providers we integrate with (e.g., Discord, YouTube) if you connect accounts.

2) How We Use Data

  • Provide, operate, and secure the Service.
  • Personalize content (e.g., remembering your preferences, league interests).
  • Process purchases and manage access windows (e.g., Season Pass).
  • Send transactional messages (receipts, plan status) and — with consent — marketing (email/SMS).
  • Measure and improve performance (analytics, A/B tests).
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3) Legal Bases (EEA/UK)

Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on: Contract (to provide the Service), Legitimate Interests (security, analytics, improvements), Consent (marketing, certain cookies), and Legal Obligation (tax, accounting).

4) Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell personal data. We share limited data with:

  • Service providers/processors that help us run QuantCup (e.g., cloud hosting, payment processing such as Stripe, analytics such as PostHog, error monitoring such as Sentry, logging/monitoring such as Datadog, email/SMS providers). They must use data only under our instructions.
  • Affiliates under common ownership following this Policy.
  • Business transfers (e.g., merger, acquisition, asset sale).
  • Legal/safety: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights, property, or safety.

5) Cookies & Similar Technologies

  • We use necessary cookies for login, security, and core features.
  • With consent (where required), we use analytics/functional cookies to understand usage and improve the Service.
  • You can manage cookies in your browser and via any in‑product controls we provide. Disabling cookies may limit functionality.

6) Marketing Communications & SMS Terms

  • Email. You can unsubscribe via links in our emails or in your account settings.
  • SMS. If you opt in, message frequency varies; message & data rates may apply. Text STOP to cancel and HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchase.
  • We may use hashed identifiers for audience matching on ad platforms in a privacy‑conscious way.

7) Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate purposes like security, audits, and legal compliance. Typical periods: account data for the life of the account; transactional records for 7 years (tax/audit); analytics logs up to 24 months (aggregated thereafter). We may retain de‑identified data.

8) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring) to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9) Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing. To exercise rights, contact [email protected] and we'll respond as required by law. We may verify your request and deny requests where permitted (e.g., if fulfilling would violate others' rights). You can also manage many settings in your account.

California (CPRA) Notice. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by CPRA (i.e., for cross‑context behavioral advertising). We honor rights to know, delete, correct, and limit sensitive data (if collected). Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authority.

Virginia/Colorado/Connecticut/Utah. We honor analogous rights under state laws (access, deletion, correction, portability, and opt‑outs where applicable). Appeals can be submitted to [email protected].

10) International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, we use lawful transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

11) Children's Privacy

QuantCup is not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from persons under 13 (or under the age of digital consent where you live). Users must be 18+, and 21+ where sports‑wagering related content requires it. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us to delete it.

12) Do Not Track & Global Privacy Controls

Currently, the Service does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. Where required, we will honor valid Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals for opting out of targeted advertising if we engage in such processing.

13) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new Effective Date. Material changes may be communicated via the Service or email. Your continued use after changes signifies acceptance.
